MARGAO: Passionate discussions over perceived illegalities in a mega project coming up in the fields in the village, particularly with respect to easement rights of the farmers, held sway over the Orlim gram sabha on Sunday.


While members protested the denial of easement rights to farmers over the land where the mega project is coming up, sarpanch Shirley Braz insisted that it was for the farmers to prove their claims.


Issues concerning frequent power outages, irregular water supply, and improper road maintenance were also discussed. Gram sabha members demanded that it be mandatory for new projects coming up in the village to make adequate arrangements for garbage disposal.
