Orlim a sleepy village sandwiched between Varca and Carmona ,hardly ever known on seen even on the map of Goa now we make news !
Not many months back the villagers came on the road to protest the building of a road that would run through our paddy fields.
A special gram sabha was called and a resoloution taken since it was said that this road will lead to the builders lobby coming into Orlim . The same Panchayat its ironic has now passed a 60 flat project in Orlim and given the construction licence on the 14th of August 2008 without the knowledge of the Gram Sabha.
This project if allowed to proceed will destroy the fields and the cattle grazing not to mention the traditional way of life so dear to us Orlimkars and Goans.
